The Central Organisation for Traffic Safety in Finland
Liikenneturva is the central organisation for Finnish traffic safety work. Its mission is to promote the safety of road traffic by influencing people's attitudes and traffic behaviour. Liikenneturva uses various tools to achieve this: publicising and campaigning, taking care of traffic education with regards to different age groups and providing advanced training for vehicle drivers. Liikenneturva's operations are anchored in research information.
Liikenneturva is the only national organisation in Finland with traffic safety as its main and only mission. We operate through our 57 member organizations. The member organisations represent various road users from pedestrians to heavy traffic associations. Liikenneturva operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Its funding is based on traffic insurance fees.
